Workshop FAQ & Policies

Please read through the following frequently asked questions and policies before booking a candlemaking workshop. Please note, we reserve the right to change our policies at any time. 

Please do not ask us to make exceptions to these policies. These policies are non-negotiable.

Do you accept walk-ins?

Due to the popularity of our candlemaking classes and candle bar, we highly recommend that you make a reservation to secure your spot for your desired date and time. Our classes and candle bar appointments frequently sell out. Walk-in guests will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis and only if there are open spots available.

Can I share a seat?

Each person who attends a workshop must have a ticket. Due to the limited size of our workshop space, we do not allow anyone to watch or participate in the class without a ticket.

What should I wear?

While we do provide aprons and gloves for participants, we recommend that you leave Chanel and Gucci at home—the fragrance oils that we use can be hard on fabrics!

How long will the candlemaking class last?

Depending on the number of participants, candlemaking classes typically last 1 hour and your candle will take an additional 1 hour to solidify. You may take your candle no earlier than 2 hours after your class start time. For example, if your class starts at 12PM, your candle will be ready no earlier than 2 PM. There are no exceptions to pick up times. If you're not able to wait for your candles to solidify, you can come pick up your candles another day or arrange with our associate to have the candles shipped to you (additional charges apply.) There is plenty to do while your candle solidifies, including shopping. If you'd like to take home your candle same day please be sure to come back before we close. You may also come back another day to pick up your candle if you prefer. If you would like us to ship your candle to you, please let us know and we'll provide a shipping quote depending on the size of your group and where the shipment is going.

How long will the candle bar last?

Depending on the number of participants, candle bar appointments typically last 30 minutes and your candle will take an additional 1 hour to solidify. You may take your candle no earlier than 1.5 hours after your class start time. For example, if your class starts at 12PM, your candle will be ready no earlier than 1:30 PM. There are no exceptions to pick up times. If you're not able to wait for your candles to solidify, you can come pick up your candles another day or arrange with our associate to have the candles shipped to you (additional charges apply.) There is plenty to do while your candle cures, including shopping. If you'd like to take home your candle same day please be sure to come back before we close. You may also come back another day to pick up your candle if you prefer. If you would like us to ship your candle to you, please let us know and we'll provide a shipping quote depending on the size of your group and where the shipment is going.

We're celebrating a special occasion, can I set up food and drinks?

We only allow food and non-alcoholic drinks in our private parties.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are not allowed in the studio. We love pets but fragrances and hot wax are not suitable for pets.

Is there an age restriction?

Workshops are suitable for ages 10+. While we'd love to host younger kids, the supplies required for candlemaking (fragrance oils and hot wax) aren't suitable for a younger crowd.

I booked for a date that I can no longer attend, what should I do?

Please refer to our cancellation policy below to determine whether you are eligible to rebook your appointment. If you are, please give us a call at (202) 340-5536 or contact us to let us know that you can no longer attend. A Banter & Bliss representative will be in touch to help you out. 

What's your cancellation policy for candlemaking workshops and the candle bar?

All candlemaking class and candle bar purchases are final sale. 

If you wish to cancel, please call (202) 340-5536 or contact us at least 48 hours before your scheduled time. For cancellations made at least 48 hours in advance, a credit towards a future candlemaking class or candle bar will be notated on your account. Due to the popularity of our candlemaking classes and candle bar, we cannot cancel reservations with less than 48 hours notice.  

If you booked your candlemaking class using a third party voucher and are cancelling at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled workshop date, your voucher will be reinstated and available for use toward a future class. If you are cancelling with less than 48 hours notice, your voucher will be reinstated for its promotional value only. In order to use the voucher you will be required to pay the difference between the full price of the offer option you purchased and the promotional value of your voucher.

What's your cancellation policy for private parties?

All private parties are final sale. If you wish to cancel, please call (202) 340-5536 or contact us at least 48 hours before your scheduled party time. If you can not make your scheduled private party, a pass will be given as credit toward a future private party.

I'm running late, what should I do?

As a courtesy to all our guests, we start our classes promptly. Out of respect to our staff and other class participants, we ask that you arrive on time. No late seatings. If you arrive late to your appointment our instructors may require that you join the next candlemaking class/candle bar space permitting.

TORRANCE LOCATION:

Banter & Bliss is located inside Del Amo Fashion Center. The address is 21540 Hawthorne Blvd, Ste 405B, Torrance, CA 90503. Park in the parking lot near Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ and enter the mall doors between Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ and Lemonade. When you see Soma, make a left.
