Blending & Mixing
Since your fragrance materials are already mixed with perfumer's alcohol, all you need to do is combine them in the right proportions to create your signature scent.
Step 1: Plan Your Ratios
Start with the classic balance: 30% top, 50% middle, 20% base.
Adjust according to your vision: More freshness → Increase top notes. More richness → Emphasize base notes.
Step 2: Blend in a Vial
Measure each ingredient by drops or milliliters into a clean glass vial.
Work small — 5–10 ml test batches help you refine without wasting material.
Cap the vial and shake gently to combine.
Step 3: Test & Refine
Smell first on a blotter, then on skin.
Take notes: Does it feel too sharp? Too heavy? Missing brightness?
Adjust by adding a drop or two of the note you want to highlight.
Step 4: Record Everything
Write down your ratios and any changes.
Even blends you don’t love teach you what works and what doesn’t.
Step 5: Rest & Macerate
Even though your notes are already diluted, blends still need time to “marry.”
Let your formula rest for at least 24–48 hours, ideally a week, to allow the notes to harmonize.
Pro Tips
Always use clean glass vials and pipettes to avoid contamination.
Label every test batch with name, date, and formula.
Remember: patience pays off — resting time can transform your blend.
